HON MUTULA KILONZO JUNIOR HAD INTEREST ON THE FOOTBALL KENYA FEDERATION INSPECTION MATTER
After the arrest of Nick Mwendwa on Friday and Barry Otieno on Saturday, Hon Mutula Kilonzo junior who happens to be a personal lawyer of former FKF president Mr Nick Mwendwa visited him at Gigiri police station where they are detained awaiting to be laid in court today. “We knew he was an interested party and by bringing this matter before the senate was pure politics”. The statement sent to africanculture.co.ke by Nairobi County Football Association officials signed by the chairman Charles Njoroge, Secretary General Wilfred Marori and Treasurer Kennedy Omari continued “We are aware that Hon Mutula Kilonzo junior is governor in waiting makueni County and Nick Mwendwa is aspiring senator in a UDA ticket, why should they bring politics in football? Senator Mutula Kilonzo junior with his reconnaissance and acquainted with laws should have not involved himself on defending delinquents. In fact, since the report is out now, the debate should rest to give EACC and DPP prospects to investigate the matter for six months as directed by sports cabinet minister. However, the caretaker committee statement of allowing branches and sub branches leagues should be made clear that the only registered county football associations should run football activities in their area of jurisdiction. We have seen the list of 11 other officials summoned to report at DCI headquarters today, we need also former FKF branch officials be investigated. People have been correcting money from innocent clubs upto 4M in the name of registration, affiliation and participation fee which goes to their pockets direct. Affiliation fee for teams should be 5,000/= once in 4yrs but you get teams pay affiliation fee every year? That is robbery…… We are going to precis the 80 pages inspection report as we give our take tomorrow in the senate sports committee sitting at 10am. We urge the chairman of the Sports senate committee Hon Johnson Sakaja to dismiss the claims of Hon Mutula Kilonzo junior forthwith and rather change the subject of discussion to the inspection report since his submission was politically influenced. If senators can assail the laws and yet they are law makers, where are we heading to? We must support the act of the cabinet secretary ministry of sports with all costs, whoever feels agitated has a way to find his right on the court of law. Football Kenya Federation should withdraw the court order case filed on Thursday to stopping CS from giving out the report because it has been overtaken by events and also it brings football into disrepute since FIFA statutes doesn’t allow football matters to be taken to local courts. It may attract FIFA ban.
Finally, the senate should compel the minister involve all football stakeholders when FIFA officials will land in the country for arbitration purposes. We know FIFA will be much interested in forming normalization committee which will conduct elections in accordance with the laws and FIFA statutes. This is a very crucial matter which needs all stakeholders on board. We will make this request too to the cabinet secretary and the committee of sports for the senate”.
